Bhagavad Gita
Bhagavad Gita on Karma Yoga
Karma Yoga is one of the Gita’s central paths: perform action, but do not let the fruit bind you.
Chapter 3 is named Karma Yoga in the traditional colophons. Related teaching already appears in Chapter 2.
Bhagavad Gita 2.47
The seed-verse for action without claim to the fruit.
You have the right to action only, never to its fruits. Do not be the cause of the fruits of action, nor let attachment to inaction arise in you.
Bhagavad Gita 3.9
The world is bound by action except action done as sacrifice (yajña).
This man who is engaged in action other than that done for the sake of yajna is bound by actions; therefore, O Kaunteya! Abandoning attachment, perform action properly only for the sake of yajna.
Bhagavad Gita 3.19
Unattached, perform the action that is to be done.
Therefore, without attachment, always perform your duty properly; for the unattached man, performing action attains the Supreme Self.
Bhagavad Gita 3.30
Dedicate all actions to Krishna, with the mind on the self, without hope or possessiveness.
Having renounced all actions in Me, free from desire and the sense of "mine," free from sorrow, fight.
